A World War Two period cross awarded to soldiers of the Free Polish Army in Exile.

The crosses were awarded to “each worthy Catholic pilgrim” which visited the Holy Land. Silver crosses were awarded to those which visited the Holy Land twice and made the necessary donations and payments for the cross.

Many soldiers of the 2nd Polish Corps and the Polish Army in the Middle East were awarded the cross and wore them on their uniforms.

The cross is made from sterling silver, hallmarked on the reverse 925. Size 42mm x 47mm (without the suspension ring).
