Bilingual ID card in Polish, Russian and English. The ID card has two handwritten signatures of General Michał Tokarzewski-Karaszewicz.
General Michał Tokarzewski-Karaszewicz (1893–1964) was one of the most prominent officers of the Polish Army and a pioneer of the organized resistance movement during World War II. He fought in the Polish Legions and the Polish-Soviet War, and held key command positions in the interwar period. In September 1939, on behalf of the Polish government, he founded the Service for Poland’s Victory (Służba Zwycięstwu Polski) in occupied Warsaw—the first nationwide underground organization, which became the foundation of the Union of Armed Struggle and later the Home Army (Armia Krajowa). After leaving the USSR in 1942, he took command of the Polish Armed Forces in the Middle East. Following the war, he remained in exile, actively involved in pro-independence and veteran circles, and became a symbol of steadfastness and loyalty to the cause of a free Poland.
