White Metal, 1939-1940, France Paris
Polish Eagle cap badge used by the Polish Army in France 1939/40. Very good condition with original fixing wires on the reverse.
A rare variant of the Polish 1919 pattern eagle cap badge, minted in Paris and sold by a jeweler on St. Honore Street. Often called the eagle with a “dot” which is located between the eagle’s talons, above the amazons’ shield. An eagle with a sharp image in a very good condition. Due to their high price at a jeweler in Paris, according to Colonel B. Mincer, the eagles did not find many buyers among the Polish forces.
This version is mentioned by Tomasz Zawistowski in the book “Polskie orły do czapek w latach 1939-1945” on page 19, illustration no. 10 & 11.
Badge in the form of a crowned eagle with spread wings sitting on an amazon shield. The head is topped with a closed crown. On the reverse a fixing wire.
