WW2 Polish Signal Badge Legitimation – Paratrooper Market Garden

A very rare legitimation card for a Polish Signal Badge issued to Senior Sergeant Kowalik Józef of the 1st Polish Independent Para Brigade. The document was issued by the 1st Polish Armoured Division of General Maczek.

 Senior Sergeant Józef Kowalik took part in Operation Market Garden and was awarded the Polish Combat Jump Wing Badge nr 1081 with wreath 1158. He also fought as part of the Polish Independent Highland Brigade (Podhalańska) in the Narvik 1940. His photograph is featured (wearing the Signal’s Badge) in the book by Rafał Niedziela “Tobie Ojczyzno, Znaki Spadochronowe i szybowcowe w Polskich Siłach Zbrojnych na Zachodzie 1941-1947”, page 202.
