Description
This cap badge features a crowned Polish eagle with outstretched wings, seated on an Amazon-style shield. Two holes on the wings suggest it was designed to be sewn onto a cap. The reverse side bears the hand-engraved inscription: “1939–1945, K. Pifan.”
The badge is hand-cut from aluminium sheet metal—possibly repurposed from a spoon—and meticulously chased and engraved. Its craftsmanship and wartime context suggest it may have been created by a former prisoner of war, potentially Kazimierz Pifan, a sculptor from Częstochowa (1912-1981)..
Good condition, consistent with the photographs provided.
