A Polish badge of the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division together with a miniature. Badge made in silver, a rarer versions for officers. 

 The front of the badge in the shape of Monte Cassino cross, with an applied christmas tree (Symbol of the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division). Below the tree the Tobruk badge, referring to the origins of the division from the Independent Carpathian Rifle Brigade. To the upper arms of the cross is the abbreviation 3DSK, standing for 3 Dywizja Strzelców Karpackich meaning 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division. 

 The reverse of the badge is smooth with a threaded post and spinner with the maker (F.M Lorioli, Milano-Roma). Around the post a inscription “Wiara, Wytrwałość, Zwycięstwo” meaning Faith, Persistence, Victory. 

 On the reverse, the upper arm is stamped “800”, for 800/1000 purity quality solid silver. 

 Badges belonged to an officer of the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division, 2nd Lieutenant Stanisław Hugo Carma. Born in 1909. Awarded the Cross of Valour. Took part in the Battle of Monte Cassino. Fought in the 1st Carpathian Regiment of Light Artillery and then transferred to the 3rd Carpathian Regiment of Light Artillery. Settled down in the UK after the war in Loughborough (Leicestershire), passed away in 1994
