An original legitimation card authorizing the wearing of the commemorative badge of the 2nd Polish Corps and is issued to Senior Lancer Stanisław Błaszczak of the Carpathian Lancers Regiment, a participant in the Battle of Monte Cassino and awarded the Monte Cassino Cross, number 38188.
The document shows signs of use, with a visible dry seal featuring the symbol of the Carpathian Lancers (two palms on a crescent) and inscriptions in both Polish and English: “Pułk Ułanów Karpackich” and “Carpathian Lancers Regiment.”
The Carpathian Lancers Regiment was formed in 1940 as part of the Independent Carpathian Rifle Brigade. It participated in the defense of Tobruk and fought in Egypt. Subsequently, as part of the 2nd Polish Corps (2nd Warsaw Armoured Brigade), it took part in battles in Italy, including the Defense of the Sangro River, the Battle of Monte Cassino, and engagements in Ancona, Pesaro, and Bologna.
