A commemorative badge of the 1st Rifle Brigade with a certificate awarded to Sergeant Bronisław Sadłowski, who was killed on August 15, 1944, in France. He is buried in the Polish Cemetery in Quesnay, Langannerie.
The badge is two-piece, in the form of a diving eagle with a crown, attached with two rivets to a thistle wreath with the inscription “1 Bryg Strzelc” (1st Rifle Brigade). The reverse of the wreath bears the signature “Scotland 1942 K&S” indicating the producer : Scotland 1942, Kirkwood & Son.
This variant was made by Kirkwood & Son in Edinburgh and finished by military workshops. Variant 13a is described in the book “The Polish Army in the West 1939-47 Commemorative and Specialist Badges: A Collector’s Companion 2020” by Tony Leszczuk & Krzysztof Barbarski.
