Polish Breast badge of the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division with a miniature. Badge design by second lieutenant Zygmunt Ochnio.
The front of the badge is in the shape of Monte Cassino cross, with an applied christmas tree (Symbol of the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division). Below the tree is the Tobruk badge, referring to the origins of the division from the Independent Carpathian Rifle Brigade. To the upper arms of the cross is the abbreviation 3DSK, standing for 3 Dywizja Strzelców Karpackich meaning 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division.
The reverse of the badge is smooth with a threaded post and spinner with the maker (F.M Lorioli, Milano-Roma). Around the post an inscription “Wiara, Wytrwałość, Zwycięstwo” meaning Faith, Persistence, Victory.
This variant of badge is mentioned by Tony Leszczuk and Krzysztof Barbarski in the book „The Polish Army in the West 1939-47, Commemorative and Specialist Badges, 2020” badge 8, page 6.
