Pre-WW2 Polish Silver Cross of the Order of Virtuti Militari (5th class), made by Stanisław Reising’s workshop in Warsaw for private purchase. Made from solid silver, tested on a spectrometer (Ag 91.06). A later added ribbon. Beautiful condition with traces of use as shown in the photos.
Cross with interesting provenance from the previous owner. It was brought back as a war trophy from the Vietnam War 1961-1963 by a US soldier.
Award in the shape of a gilded cross, in the center a crowned white enameled eagle with wings spread. On gilded arms is an inscription in black enameled letter “Virtuti Militari”. The reverse has clear arms, the center medallion has a laurel leaves crown, with an inscription in the center “Honor i Ojczyzna 1792”, meaning Honor and Fatherland 1792.
