pre-WW2 Polish Gold Virtuti Militari Cross 4th Class – Krupski & Matulewicz

Awarded Gold Cross of the Order of Virtuti Militari (4th class), made by Krupski & Matulewicz workshop in Warsaw around 1922/23 on government order.
Virtuti Militari cross from the Order Chapter’s Inventory reserve (unissued), numbered but not awarded. The cross is numbered on the reverse 325.. Original issue ribbon with safety pin. Beautiful condition with traces of use as shown in the photos.
Award in the shape of a gilded cross, in the center a crowned white enameled eagle with wings spread. On gilded arms is an inscription in black enameled letter “Virtuti Militari”. The reverse has clear arms, the center medallion has a laurel leaves crown, with an inscription in the center “Honor i Ojczyzna 1792”, meaning Honor and Fatherland 1792
