A Warsaw Uprising group to Ryszard Golebiewski “Dziad” of Home Army Praga Distict unit.
The set consists of :
- A Home Army Cross (London made) with legitimation card number 35224 issued in 1985
- A Polish Army Medal (Panasiuk Version 1960’s), with legitimation card issued in 1948
- A document of service confirmation issued by the Polish Home Army Ex-Service Association in London confirming service in the Polish Resistance.
Ryszard Gołębiewski pseudonym “Dziad”, son of Stanisław and Aleksandra Gołębiewski, born on November 30, 1925 in Warsaw. In March 1942 he was sworn in in Warsaw to the Home Army. During the occupation, from the moment of his swearing-in, he served in the communications department in the Grouping in Okęcie – (Paluch) until July 31, 1944, acting as a liaison to Śródmieście and Praga. He took an active part in the Warsaw Uprising as a private in the 1644 platoon, subordinate to the 5th District-VI Warsaw District of the Home Army District (Praga). After the fall of the uprising on the right side of the Vistula River in Praga, he was captured by the Germans as a civilian and left with the civilian population. After that, he was sent to forced labor in Germany, he was liberated in April 1945 by the Allied troops.
