Post-WW2 Polish visor cap known as “Rogatywka”of the Maritime Border Guard Unit (Morski Oddział Wojsk Ochrony Pogaranicza), wz.1935, produced in Gdańsk between 1944-1949 for use by the People’s Army of Poland.
Square-shaped crown made of olive-green cloth material. The band is green, a color used by the Border Guard, with a distinctive navy blue piping visible between the green band and the galloon, likely indicating the Maritime Border Guard Unit. On the band, three five-pointed stars, and between the visor and the band, silver braid.
Characteristic leather lining typical of Navy caps, secured with two pre-war buttons. Black fiber visor with brass trim; the thread connecting the visor to the cap is mostly absent, causing the visor to move.
Interior of the cap shows signs of wear, sweatband made of leather, visible signs of use and partial damage. Inside, a diamond-shaped manufacturer’s label is visible, stating “Nowości, Michał Gbur, Gdańsk Nowy Port, Wilków Morskich 13”. On the front of the cap, a pre-war Polish wz.19 eagle cap badge with a crown, attached via a threaded post. Marked on the reverse “Guzpol BM”.
