An impressive bullion blazer patch of the Polish Ex-Combatants Association in Canada, made on a wool cloth backing with metallic thread, bullion wire and coloured silk embroidery.

The patch is formed as a rounded shield, edged with black cloth and a pink-red cord border. At the centre is a green maple leaf, the national symbol of Canada, overlaid with a white-and-red Polish motif, crossed swords and a large “SPK” monogram. Above it is a Polish eagle with outstretched wings, finely embroidered in silver bullion, with additional details worked in gold and silver thread. The letters in the upper corners refer to the Polish veterans’ organisation active in exile.

The Polish Ex-Combatants Association was one of the principal organisations representing Polish veterans after 1945, including former soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces in the West. Its branches were active throughout the Polish diaspora, including in Canada, where they helped preserve Polish military, patriotic and social traditions in exile.

A highly decorative and rarely encountered piece of Polish émigré veterans’ memorabilia from Canada.
