A miniature of a Polish Officer Navy Cap with the rank of Lieutenant Commander made in the 1950’s by the Pracownia Czapek i Kapeluszy in Gdańsk.
The top of the cap is dark navy, round, with a dark navy piping on the edge, with a black rim, faded on the front. The cap’s chin strap is made of leather with a fabric overlay with the rank in the form of a golden five-pointed star made from bullion thread. Black leather peak with a gold bullion thread braid at the edge. To the front the cap is decorated with an officer’s eagle made in bullion thread, this eagle is very rare in this condition on the collector’s market.
This cap was made in the Caps and Hats Workshop (Pracownia Czapek & Kapeluszy) in Gdańsk at Węglarska Street, where for many years it served as a decoration of the store and a showcase of the products manufactured by the plant. This is probably the only miniature of a sailor’s cap of the rank of Lieutenant Commander that exists. The original bag from the factory comes with the hat.
