Description
British Flintlock pistol from the first half of the 18th century. Walnut stock, with old repair, cannon type barrel, steel flintlock and plate. Brass counter plate, decorated, engraved. Barrel marked and engraved “London”. Lock plate engraved with the manufacturer “Walker”. Unusual construction, typical for the manufacturer.
John, Apprenticed to Joseph Shorey, 1717; free of Gunmakers Co., by redemption (his master dying) and proof approved, 1722. Elected assistant 1740; Master 1744. Gunmaker to East India Co., 1736-47. Died 1748. Shop at the Cross Guns & Sun, Lombard Street, taken over by Thomas Gibson.
